NESHURO – Mwenezi District Schools Inspector Shepherd Mapara has commended Rutenga Primary School Head Tenson Mukapa for his visionary leadership, following the school’s milestone of becoming the first primary school in Mwenezi to purchase a luxury coach.
Mr Mapara made the remarks during the ceremonial commissioning of the Rutenga Primary School bus to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education at the BSPZ District Complex in Neshuro on 6 August.
Teachers, prefects, and School Development Committee members from Rutenga Primary joined in the bus’s first historic trip.
“Mr Mukapa and your staff, I am happy because of this landmark achievement. You have made yourselves great and the district great. This is what I expect from a school like yours,” Mapara said.
He applauded teachers for their role in building parent confidence.
“To the teachers, these are the fruits of your hard work. When you produce results, parents build faith in the school, and they will support the school’s initiatives,” he said.
The Inspector challenged the school to raise standards further.
“Now that you have this asset, let it help you up your game. Take learners on field trips and expose them to reality. Conquer in sports and go as far as the national level. With your school, the pass rate is not an issue to discuss. You have already achieved that. My challenge to you is on quality. Come December, when Grade 7 results come out, how many learners are you going to produce with 6 units?” Mapara asked.
Mwenezi District PSC Human Resources Manager, Last Gondo, also praised the school leadership.
“Rutenga Primary, we are proud of you. Your achievements put the district on the map. Continue with this standard as you fly the district flag high,” Gondo said.
The District Inspectorate, led by Mr Mapara and Mr Gondo, took an inaugural ride in the bus and toured its interior.
The team later proceeded to the office of Mwenezi Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer, Albert Chivanga, for the official commissioning of the bus, since Rutenga Primary is a council-owned school.
“Chief Executive Officer, I am here with the Head of Rutenga Primary and staff for the official commissioning of their new asset, a luxurious coach,” Mapara said.
In response, Mr Chivanga applauded the school.
“Well done, Rutenga Primary Head and staff. Keep working hard and make the district great. Put this asset to good use. Employ a mature and responsible driver,” Chivanga said.
Head Tenson Mukapa thanked the responsible authority and the district team.
“On behalf of the school and our School Development Committee, we are indebted to you for the unwavering support you always render to Rutenga Primary. We are what we are because of you. Continue giving us support and guidance, and you will see us grow,” Mukapa said.
