Marondera- Masvingo Women’s Volleyball team held the Province’s flag high in Marondera, cementing an unprecedented unbeaten run throughout the National Youth Games tournament.
The team claimed gold after defeating Mashonaland East 3–1 in the final.

The girls pulled off fine results in the group stages, defeating Midlands 2-0, Harare 2–0, Mash East 2–0, Manicaland 2–0, and Mash West 2–0, and faced Harare, whom they defeated 3-0 in the semi-final, eventually emerging 3-1 victors over Mash East in the final.
Coach Glenn Tavarwisa had also led the girls to a remarkable 25–3 first-set victory over Harare in the semi-final, setting an impressive tournament record.
Glenn Tavarwisa thanked all sponsors and partners who ensured the team’s success.
“A huge thank you to everyone who supported the team and made this historic achievement possible. We sincerely thank Mr Kondongwe for standing firmly with his province, volleyball as a whole, and the development of the girl child,” said Tavarwisa.
Participation in the games had been hindered by financial challenges, but businessman Sternly Kondongwe came to the rescue by paying the affiliation fees, accommodation, and food for the Masvingo Province Volleyball team, which in turn returned with the gold medal.
