MASVINGO – It was a day of pure joy and celebration in Reshuro Township, Ward 12, in village Charumbira, as Chiwororo Football Club finally saw their long-held dream become a reality.

For years, the community soccer club had been playing the beautiful game without a proper kit, and a born and bred villager stepped up to change that.

Simbarashe Mandishonha, a Masvingo City Council employee and owner of Simba Sports Bar at ZB Shopping Centre in Masvingo, made a donation of a full soccer kit and several balls to the club.

A gesture of bringing back to the very community that raised him.

He said the donation is his contribution towards uplifting local talent and ensuring the youth are absent from drug and substance abuse.

Born and bred in this community under Village Head Tichagwa, Mandishonha has always shown immense passion for sports and soccer in particular.

His involvement in soccer administration as a board member in the lucrative Pacific Sponsored Eastern Region Division1 league and Secretary General at Masvingo United Football Club is well known.

The kit proudly bears the name Simba Sports Bar.

“This is what we encourage and expect from every son and daughter of any rural background to plough back to the communities that raised them,” said a local villager.

The donation has been hailed, with villagers calling on Mandishona to continue his good work not only for his home boys but to extend the same generosity beyond.

For Chiwororo F.C., the dream is now a reality as they continue to nurture the future of untapped talent in rural Masvingo, with the intervention of Mandishona, moral is high among both players and supporters.

Villagers and soccer lovers from Charumbira expressed their gratitude to Mandishona for the gesture.

“We are very happy, and we want to thank Mr. Mandishona for remembering us and making this good gesture to our youth. This kind of support will go a long way in assisting the grooming of local talent in soccer, as well as taking away our young people from indulging in immoral activities like drugs and substance abuse,”  said one villager.

Others hailed Mandishona, saying he has always assisted his community in various ways and urged other successful sons and daughters from their area to emulate him.
