Masvingo – In a move to empower individuals and strengthen the fabric of families across the nation, the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) is hosting a major free healthcare drive.

The event, centered on providing safe and effective family planning options, will take place on August 26th and 27th, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the ZNFPC Static Clinic in Masvingo.

Under the inspiring banner “Family Planning: It’s Your Choice,” the council is offering completely free insertion and removal of the Intra-Uterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD), commonly known as the Copper T or Copper Loop.

This initiative is a direct investment in the health and autonomy of Zimbabweans, reinforcing the message that every choice matters in building a healthier future.

“The Copper T is a remarkable tool for family planning because it puts control directly in the hands of the individual,” said officials.

“It’s about providing a safe, effective, and long-acting option that aligns with a person’s life goals and health needs.”

The advantages of the Copper T IUCD are compelling for those seeking reliable, long-term family planning; it is over 99% effective in preventing pregnancy.

Once inserted, it provides continuous protection for up to 10 years.

Fertility returns quickly and naturally once the device is removed.

It is an ideal choice for women who cannot or prefer not to use hormonal contraceptives.

It represents a one-time investment for years of worry-free protection.

Officials added that the method is also safe for breastfeeding mothers and does not interfere with daily activities.

This free service drive is part of the ZNFPC’s broader mission of “Empowering individuals. Strengthening families. Building a healthier Zimbabwe.”

By removing cost barriers, the council ensures that this vital healthcare option is accessible to all who want it.
