Masvingo- Public nominations have opened for the inaugural Masvingo Community Trailblazers Awards, a new provincial honours platform backed by government and the private sector to recognise individuals and institutions driving development under the devolution agenda.
The awards, organised by Perfection Media (Private) Limited in coordination with the Office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, will be held on Friday, 4 September 2026 at the Urban Lifestyles Hotel in Masvingo, with the government and businesses backing the awards as a great initiative that honours and drives the devolution agenda.

Zim Community Trailblazers Awards CEO Albert Masaka said the event supports the national philosophy “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo,” a nation is built by its people, and aligns with Vision 2030.
Built on a national track record, MCTA 2026 is modelled on the Zim Community Trailblazers Awards, which Masaka said has a seven-year record of recognising leaders across business, sport, arts and public service.
“Past ZCTA honourees include Dr Vivek Solanki, Ken Sharpe, Dr Solomon Guramatunhu, cricketer Sikandar Raza, clubs Dynamos FC and Scotland FC, musician Gemma Griffiths, Eng Tafadzwa Muguti, Hon Owen Ncube, Hon Torerayi Moyo, NetOne, Mutare City Council and Dinson,” said Masaka.
The Masvingo edition has been endorsed by Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Honourable Ezra Ruvai Chadzamira, a recipient of the Presidential Best Overall Performance Award.
Organisers described the awards as a verified, data-driven audit of grassroots and corporate delivery under National Development Strategy 2.
Only 60 winners from various categories will be selected under what organisers called the Elite 60 Quality Control Mandate.
Nominees must score at least 75/100 based on policy and NDS2 alignment, socio-economic impact, innovation, statutory and tax compliance, and public nomination support.
Regional winners will automatically progress to the national finals at the Harare International Conference Centre in January 2027.
The six sectors being considered are Hall of Fame and Devolution Leadership, Tourism, Heritage and Water Infrastructure including Great Zimbabwe and Tugwi-Mukosi, Livestock, Lowveld Sugar and Arid Agriculture, Rural Development and Growth Point Transformation focusing on Village Business Units, Commerce, Mining and Corridor Logistics Beitbridge route and Bikita Lithium and Heritage-Based Education, Sports, Health and Culture with Education 5.0 being the core.
The awards also offer companies a platform to align CSR and ESG spend with visibility.
Five partnership tiers have been announced, ranging from USD $900 for a Growth Point Civic Contributor to USD $5,000 for the Corridor Anchor Headline sponsor.
Top-tier partners receive sector naming rights, co-presentation with Cabinet Ministers, a 10-seat VVIP table, and full-page branding in the awards digest.
The presentation evening will feature a premium three-course dinner, performances by leading Zimbabwean musicians, and hosting by MCs Nabeelah Jogee and Best Masinire.
The VVIP table will seat Guest of Honour Honourable Ezra Chadzamira, CEO Albert Masaka, the Provincial Chairperson of the Council of Chiefs, the Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Masvingo, and Tier-1 sponsors.
The awards will bring Masvingo into the spotlight, with the aim of spotlighting the human gold powering Masvingo’s socio-economic transformation.
