MWENEZI — Healthcare access in Mwenezi district ‘s Ward 10 is on the brink of a major transformation, with the construction of the Nikita Mangena clinic now standing at an impressive 90 percent to completion .
Mwenezi Rural District Council said the much-anticipated health facility is slated for official commissioning this August, marking a monumental victory for community-driven development.
The remarkable progress achieved at the site is a shining testament to the power of collaboration, specifically driven by a robust Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
Mwenezi Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Albert Ndhlovu Chivanga, paid glowing tribute to this collaborative framework, emphasizing that teamwork has been the fundamental catalyst behind the project’s rapid advancement.
“Embracing Public-Private Partnerships has proved to be a critical area that fosters development in the district,” Mr. Chivanga said, reflecting on the synergy that brought the project to life.
Behind this success story is a dedicated alliance of diverse stakeholders pooling their unique strengths.
Financial backing for the clinic has been generously provided by the Bubi Valley Conservancy, whose vital investment laid the groundwork for the construction phase.
Meanwhile, technical expertise and heavy-duty infrastructure development have been spearheaded by the exceptional personnel of the Zimbabwe National Army’s 4 Brigade engineers.
Chivanga was quick to praise the multifaceted contributions of the military, noting their invaluable role in nation-building beyond traditional security.
“Soldiers from 4 Brigade have demonstrated that they do not only hold guns, but are experts and a critical entity towards the development of the country,” he remarked.
Crucially, the success of the Nikita Mangena clinic is equally rooted in grassroots participation.
The local authority, alongside enthusiastic community members in Ward 10, rolled up their sleeves to ensure the speedy realization of the health center.
Villagers and the local autnority actively contributed to the groundwork by supplying essential materials, including water and sand, as well as undertaking the labor-intensive task of molding bricks.
For villagers in Ward 10, the upcoming August commissioning represents much more than just a new building; it signifies the end of long, arduous journeys to distant medical facilities and the beginning of accessible, high-quality healthcare right on their doorstep.
As the final touches are put in place, Chivanga said Nikita Mangena clinic stands as a proud national symbol of what can be achieved when private enterprise, the armed forces, local government, and ordinary citizens unite for a common goal.
