MWENEZI – Barely a month after the commissioning of Patronela Clinic by the Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, Mwenezi Rural District Council (RDC) is preparing to open another healthcare facility as the construction of Nikita Clinic in Ward 16 enters its final stages.
The clinic project, which is being implemented through a partnership between Mwenezi Rural District Council and Bubi Valley Conservancy is now more than 80 percent complete and is expected to be commissioned soon.
Mwenezi RDC Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Albert Chivange, said following the successful commissioning of Patronela Clinic this month (July) the local authority has shifted its focus to completing Nikita Clinic.
”After commissioning Patronela Clinic, our focus is now on completing Nikita Clinic in Ward 16. The project is now over 90 percent complete and we expect it to be ready for commissioning in August or September,” said Chivanga.
He said the project reflects the strength of partnerships in improving access to healthcare services in rural communities.
”We are working hand in glove with Bubi Valley Conservancy, which is our key funding partner, while 4 Brigade is providing skilled labour. This collaboration has enabled us to make significant progress on the project,” he said.
The completion of Nikita Clinic is expected to further improve access to primary healthcare services for communities in Ward 16 by reducing the distance residents travel to seek medical attention.
The development comes as Mwenezi RDC continues to invest in expanding health infrastructure across the district, with the council prioritising improved access to quality healthcare for rural communities.
