Masvingo- This year, the Provincial Independence Celebrations are moving into Gibbo Stadium in Triangle, as part of a nationwide tradition of rotating the festivities among districts.
Each year will bring the celebrations to a new setting, giving different communities the chance to shine and share in the milestone.
Preparations are in full swing. Organizers are holding meetings to fine-tune the program, logistics, and safety measures, with the aim of delivering a memorable experience for attendees.
The entertainment committee is still putting the final touches on the artist lineup, with a formal announcement expected soon.
“Officials are projecting a crowd of around 10,000 people, a sign of the province’s enduring enthusiasm for celebrating hard-won independence,” said a statement from the provincial information office.
The event runs under the theme Zim@46-Unity and Development Towards Vision 2030, a rallying call for continued progress and shared prosperity.
“This is a celebration of our resilience and our continued journey together,” said Sengerai Manyanga Provincial Chairperson of the Children of the Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association CZLWVA.
“We invite everyone—residents and visitors alike—to come out, join in the festivities, and honor the unity that has carried us this far.” he added.
With the theme at the center of the day’s program, the celebrations promise a vibrant blend of culture, community spirit, and forward-looking dialogue on development.
He also urged all Zimbabweans to join the conversation on national development as Zimbabwe commemorate independence and looking towards a brighter future for all.
The Minister of state for provincial affairs, Ezra Chadzamira will preside over the celebrations and read the national presidential speech on behalf of President Emerson Mnangagwa.
