UNA-UNA Thrust Suprine Muchabaya As Head Coach, Entrusts Former Players to Steer The Team To Glory

Masvingo, —Masvingo United Football Club , has  assigned its former rock solid defender, Suprine Muchabaya to the hot seat  of Head coach  and  lead a high powered  technical bench of loyal and trusted sons of the team he played with during the team’s  glorious old days of fame in the Premier Soccer League and Eastern Region Division 1 league.

Una Una as the team is affectionately known as, established a solid  eight-member setup which includes coaches  for  both the senior team  and  under 17  developmental junior side, as the club sets sights on  strengthening stability, growth, and improved performance to achieve their sole objective  of PSL promotion in the upcoming season.

Having narrowly missed the opportunity last season, finishing the league on a dignified 3rd position Una Una believes this time around the return of their loyal prodigal sons will take them to the promised land of exclusive soccer, the PSL.

 Una Una , Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Phillip Shumba, announced the  Muchabaya led technical team at Urban Life Style Hotel recently emphasizing their quest for promotion to the elite league and end the over  a decade long wait for  premier league action in the city  soccer theater of dreams Mucheke stadium.

Shumba announced that Muchabaya, who has been plying his coaching trade  in  Mozambique , assisting two clubs to gain Premier league promotion there, will be assisted by his former teammate, George Magariro  who comes in as the 1st assistant coach. Magariro who once captained Dynamos and Caps United will be joined by Josiah Chekeche, popularly known as Mandeya, as Second Assistant Coach. Mandeya is also a former diminutive pint-sized, midfielder at Una Una who played in the same team with his two seniors.

 The club also revealed that Former Dynamos shot stopper, Phillip Nhete, will be the goalkeepers’ coach, with Mashoko Nyanga serving as team medic. Taonga ‘Kwinji’ Munyanyi was announced the Kit manager.

 In a continued commitment to long-term development, Shumba also announced the under 17 junior team’s technical structure to be led by former midfield maestro, Billiat ‘Bomber’ Muchenje who takes the position of Head coach.

Bomber also played together with the other mates at Una  Una during their heyday and will be  assisted by former Una Una gangly and free scoring  striker, Tichaona  ‘Joro’ Zvandasara as first Assistant Coach while  Luka Njanji as second assistant Coach.

He empasised that “the junior setup would play a key role in identifying and nurturing young talent while creating a clear pathway to the senior team,”

Shumba said the early unveiling was aimed at ensuring continuity and providing the coaching staff ample time to prepare for the 2026 campaign.

On the fundraising and development front, Una Una’s fundraising and Marketing Executive Angeline Mikiri pleaded for greater corporate support, saying that stronger partnerships are essential for the club’s sustainability and the welfare of players and staff.

“Stronger partnerships would help improve player welfare, strengthen training conditions and enhance the club’s overall operations,” Mikiri said.

 She added that Una Una is re-positioning itself as a growing football brand open to mutually beneficial partnerships, inviting continued collaboration to support growth and sustainability.
