Masvingo based Pacific Storm Eastern Region D1 Soccer League teams, Masvingo United and FC Wangu Mazodze are seeking reclamation by collecting maximum points when they face Chivhu Stars and GZU FC respectively following setbacks in their last weekend matches.

Title chasing Una Una dropped two points after playing a goalless draw away to Renco Mine, while The Kingdom Boys fell by two goals to nil at the hands of Destiny Stars in their backyard.

Una Una who trail FC Hunters by two points still have a mathematical chance of grabbing the title should they get maximum points on Sunday with four rounds of matches still to be played.

They also hope that Hunters FC drop points in the last few games left,  while they  have to  win most of the games, they also need to beat Hunters or draw in their second  encounter to improve their chances.

The Kingdom Boys on the other hand aim to finish strong in a respectable position despite not being in contention for the title.

Masvingo United spokesperson Omen Mafa said they are well prepared and raring to go in this weekend’s encounter.

“After dropping important points at the hands of our brothers Renco Mine FC, we have regrouped and dusted ourselves. That match is now water under the bridge. The boys have recovered from the draw. Eyes are now on the next assignment against Chivhu and the morale is high in the camp and everyone is ready for the match.

We respect our opponents. It is unfortunate that we got 3 points in a silver plate after they had failed to play their home game in the first fixture. This time it will be a real war. We urge our supporters to come in numbers and rally behind the boys” said Mafa.

FC Wangu Mazodze spokesperson Courage Kandira said they are looking forward to bouncing back from last weekend’s defeat.

“We are going into the weekend match as wounded lions, we look forward to redeem ourselves and hopefully give our fans and stakeholders what they expect of us. We are not moved by the fact that the season is almost ending, our focus is on regaining our winning mentality, bring back the lost faith and regroup for next season. We invite our fans around Mashava to come in numbers, and cheer their boys in action. Of course we take note of the current performances by the students and we know they carry with them a home advantage but we will fight with our boots and score goals” said Kandira.
