MWENEZI – In a drive to improve access to quality education, Mwenezi Rural District Council (RDC) is on course to transform all satellite schools within its jurisdiction into fully registered and independent learning institutions by 2027.
The district, which comprises nearly 70 percent communal land, has a significant number of satellite schools that currently operate under the administration of established parent schools.

The council has already registered … out of … satellite schools with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and has set 2027 as the target year to complete the registration of the remaining schools.
Speaking to Center News, Mwenezi RDC head of engineering department, Engineer Philip Madenga, said the council had made notable progress during 2026 by registering … satellite schools as independent institutions.
”This year, the council successfully registered … satellite schools as fully fledged schools, leaving … still to be registered.
”The remaining satellite schools will be registered next year as we work towards eliminating the satellite school system in Mwenezi by 2027,” said Eng. Madenga.
He said the initiative is expected to strengthen the delivery of quality education by giving schools greater administrative independence and improving access to educational resources and services for learners across the district.
Education experts in the District say the registration of satellite schools in Mwenezi is expected to improve access to quality education by strengthening school administration and reducing the distances learners travel to access education
