ZOMA- Gutu based primary schools under the Zoma East dale Zone put up a fierce fight at the just-ended National Association of Primary Heads, zonal competitions held at Gutu CPS recently.

The track and field event was described by stakeholders as a resounding success and exciting athletics sports.
“The team battled like lions, and for the first time in over a dozen years, they managed to bag an impressive number of gold medals, marking a remarkable turnaround. This outstanding performance is a testament to the team’s unwavering dedication and spirit” said a stakeholder.
Athletes demonstrated exceptional skill, determination and sportsmanship which made the event memorable.
NAPH executive through the newly appointed treasurer and Zoma Primary School head, Ishmael Tabe decided to revive the team’s training camp, which had been put on hold since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic which contributed to success.
“The move to revive camp allowed the athletes to regroup, refocus, and recharge, ultimately leading to a significant improvement in their performance. The coaching department, led by the dynamic duo of Mrs. Museva and Mrs. Tigere as well as Mr Muhovo and Sports Organiser Mr Matavikwa worked tirelessly to build a formidable squad in a remarkably short period. Their efforts paid off in spectacular fashion, yielding the best results the zone has seen in over a decade” said Tabe.
Lillian Mandizvidza was the starlet of the show in the girls’ category, showcasing her exceptional speed and agility by clinching two gold medals in the 100m and 200m races respectively.
Her impressive display earned her a spot in the district team.
Tichafara Dune dominated the boys’ category and proved he is one of the finest athletes the zone has ever produced, winning the 100m race and played a pivotal role in the 4x100m and 4x200m relay team’s gold medal triumph.
The Zoma East dale zone is looking forward to continue with its winning streak at the Inter district level.
Dazzling Francis of Chipesa Primary School was unstoppable, dictating the pace in the 1500m race and cruising to a gold medal.
He also impressed in the 400m race, adding another gold medal to his tally.
Super Athlete Chiedza of Makomborewo School cruised to victory in the under 13 girls’ category with her electrifying speed.
Amos Kondongwe threw the Javelin like a warrior, securing a historic win.
“Zoma East dale Zone is on the rise, and the sky’s the limit. With the current momentum, the zone is poised to make a mark at the district level and beyond” a parent from one of the schools said.
