Harare-The Zimbabwe Republic Police say murder cases at beer-drinking venues have surged across the country as festive season begins , with petty disputes escalating into fatal confrontations.
In a statement released by national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi, the police urged the public to remain calm, settle disagreements amicably, and report any suspicious or unruly behavior to authorities.

Commissioner, Nyathi said in Beitbridge, Taurai Hungwe, 29, was allegedly stabbed once in the chest with an okapi knife during an altercation at a nightclub around 03:35 on 1 December 2025.
He was rushed to Beitbridge District Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on 3 December. The suspect, named only as Prosper, remains at large.
Nearby in Fort Rixon, at the Claremont Business Centre bottle store, Kudakwashe Mudyanevana, 27, was struck on the head with an axe at about 22:00 on 4 December.
Police say the attack involved four other individuals who allegedly attacked patrons who were drinking beer.
Mudyanevana died while being transported to Filabusi Hospital. The suspects have not yet been arrested.
On 5 December, Leonard Chidhoma, 45, was attacked by two unidentified suspects while drinking beer at Chibhawabhawa in Battlefields around 20:45. His body was discovered on 6 December. Investigations continue as police seek leads and possible suspects.
In Bulawayo’s Magwegwe North, Mongiwethu Godnows Dube, 26, was killed after confronting Keith Dube, 26, in what police say was an act of revenge following an earlier incident in which Dube allegedly splashed beer on the victim’s friend during a snooker game at a sports bar.
The investigation into this case remains active.
Also on 7 December, Tinotenda Gibson Madanhire, 26, reportedly struck Richard Sibanda, 52, multiple times on the head with a stone after a misunderstanding at a funeral gathering in Mantiya Village, Lower Gweru. Sibanda died from his injuries. Police say the suspect in this incident has been arrested.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates the importance of restraint and peaceful conflict resolution.
Officials urged the public to promote responsible behavior and to promptly report any suspicious or violent activity to the police.
