Masvingo-23 year old author, Christina Mapfumo, has lodged a passionate plea for assistance with funds to publish her first ever book titled Muchandiripa.
Mapfumo who hails from Gokwe Nembudziya was born and raised in Bulawayo where she did her secondary education at Sobukhazi High School and later transferred to Mandwandwe High School for her Advanced Level.
She passed her Ordinary and Advanced Level studies with flying colours but could not advance to university due to financial constraints.
She later relocated to Harare after finishing her studies in search of green pastures.
Growing up she was an indoor person who did not have much friends so she spent most of her time reading books.

“I loved reading and l did a lot of writing as well. I always had a dream of becoming one of Zimbabwe’s finest writers. I am also a dramatist and wrote my first drama script (play) in the year 2020 while I was in Upper Six” said Mapfumo.
Mapfumo is now seeking assistance to publish her latest 35 chapter Shona literary work titled Muchandiripa.
Muchandiripa is a tragic yet courageous book about a young beautiful Zimbabwean woman who is married to the King of a particular tribe which highlights the abuse she then faces from her husband and those around her, after the King was made to believe that she was barren hence the source of her problems in the marriage.
Ever since Muchandiripa got married to the King, life has not been polite to her, in fact it handed her a big farm of lemons. What was once true love between her and the King turned into hatred to the extent that the King killed her without a tangible and solid reason.
lt is after her death that the Kingdom began to face challenges, lt was attacked by natural disasters, innocent people lost their lives and the village struggled to survive after the disaster.
It later came to the King’s attention that the late Queen’s death angered the ancestors of the land, the Queen’s spirit was wandering about and she wanted to be appeased hence the title Muchandiripa.
Mapfumo said she has faced problems with established writers and publishers who have demanded hefty perks in order to assist her in publishing.
“They all demand large amounts of money which l don’t have at the moment, so for that reason l have failed to publish any of my books to date and lm now writing for fun. Given the opportunity to publish my books, l have no doubt that my work will lift Zimbabwe’s flag” said Mapfumo.
She said those who are willing to assist can get in touch with her on her mobile +263 78 660 9811
