Masvingo — Rufaro High school has once again came out as a beacon of academic excellence in the Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (Zimsec) 2025 O-Level examinations after bagging an outstanding pass rate of 95.6% after 108 students from 113 examination class obtained 5 subjects and above passes.
The school, run by the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFM) and located in the Chatsworth area of Gutu in Masvingo province, announced encouraging results across a broad span of subjects.
The results cover Geography, Economics, Accounting, History, Statistics, Pure Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Sociology, Biology, and other subject areas.
Figures indicate that subjects like Building Technology Design (BDT), Textile Technology and Design (TTD), Statistics, Computers Science and Pure Mathematics students achieved a 100% pass rate, with several other subjects recording slightly lower performance between 60% to above 90%.
Rufaro High school head, Jameson Shumbanhete, was thrilled over the results and accredited the achievement to hard work and commitment from the team he leads, comprising of a passionate staff and disciplined students.

“It gives me great pleasure that our school has recorded impressive results in the Zimsec final public examinations. Our learners have shown remarkable academic prowess, with many achieving top grades in their subjects. This accomplishment reflects the high standard of teaching and learning in our institution.
“This is a good result and I extend my congratulations to all our teachers and learners and urge them to maintain their pursuit of excellence,” said Shumbanhete.
However the result scrutiny reflect a sturdy academic footmark across sciences, mathematics, and humanities disciplines.
The analysis also lists the teaching staff associated with each subject and acknowledges notable student progress through a designated “Role of Honour” section which saw 20 Students obtaining 5 ‘A’s and above while students Tatenda Munemo and Shammah Date topped with 9 As and 2 B s each.
The school has maintained high standards and delivered rock-solid results for the 2025 O level examination class as some students are now A level bound.
The SDC chairman, Godwell Mabodha, hailed the school for inspiring results, pointing out that the learning institution was becoming a force to reckon with in the academic spheres of the province and the nation at large.
