Hillside- Masvingo is buzzing more than ever since the opening of San Siro, a multi-service entertainment complex in the city’s high-density area that has become the talk of the town.

Offering live European and local soccer, delicious meals, top-notch beverages, and a soothing musical atmosphere, the venue is drawing families, corporate visitors, and locals from all corners, reshaping the city’s day and night entertainment landscape.

At the helm is Taurai Mudzviti, widely known as Bucho, a local businessman born and bred in the dusty roads of Sisk in Mucheke high density suburbs in Masvingo, whose ventures span across mining, construction, earth-moving services, retail, tourism and hospitality, even an Econet franchise.

He says San Siro began as a feasibility study, a response to the community’s needs and aspirations.

“We saw that a lot of people who flock to the CBD for nightlife come from the ghetto, so we brought entertainment right into their backyard,” he said, describing a project born of a desire to uplift the neighborhood that molded him.

The venue’s impact extends beyond entertainment.

Local observers note that San Siro has revived a waning CBD nightlife, with patrons now traveling from leafy suburbs into the ghetto to enjoy the new hub.

Bucho frames the project within Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, emphasizing a goal of elevating Masvingo to an upper-middle-income economy while ensuring “no one is left behind.”

He envisions San Siro as a one-stop experience where high-density residents can enjoy an upscale feel without the need to drive into town for meals or drinks.

Plans for expansion are already in motion.

Management envisions a daytime family-friendly atmosphere with upgraded kids play facilities for children and ongoing enhancements to maintain a European-inspired resemblance .

At night, the venue aims to continue attracting revellers with a curated mix of sports, cuisine, and music.

Bucho’s leadership style is hands-on.

He has been known to slide from the executive chair to the cashier’s till during peak times to alleviate pressure on staff, exemplifying a practical approach to running a bustling enterprise.

Beyond San Siro, his portfolio includes mining and construction services, while his philanthropic ambitions are there for all to see.

His community contributions has kept local suppliers busy, and the impact reaches neighboring institutions as well.

Hillside Extension Primary School, located adjacent to San Siro, is set to benefit from future projects such as free Wi-Fi zones and a solar installation—part of Bucho’s broader commitment to community development and empowerment.

“Our goal is not only to entertain but to uplift,” Bucho said.

He also stressed the importance of education and inclusion, highlighting a recent initiative that provides opportunities for students seeking attachments and employment, including a commitment to hire individuals with disabilities.

Masvingo watches San Siro evolve, many residents see it as a symbol of upward mobility and community-centered progress, a testament to the power of local entrepreneurship to redefine a city’s social and economic rhythm.

With plans for ongoing upgrades and community projects, San Siro appears poised to remain a central feature of Masvingo’s entertainment landscape for years to come.
