GUTU- A Zanu PF councilor for ward 16 in Gutu east, Peter Chidhakwa was ordered to pay the husband of the married woman 6 cows for sleeping with his wife at a traditional court hearing held last week.
The verdict was handed by Village head Mangwiro whose real name could not be obtained by the time of going to press.
According to a reliable source who attended the hearing, the Village head also ordered the married women to pay her husband a single cow for cheating on him.
Chidhakwa was on Thursday 19 September 2025 summoned by Chief Munyikwa at his traditional court and asked if he accepted the village head verdict since he had attempted to plead innocent but to no avail.
Ironically Chidhakwa agreed to pay the fine to the husband after Chief Munyikwa upheld the verdict by the village head and advised him to appeal the matter to the courts if he was not satisfied with process as he had declined the accusations.
Cllr Chidhakwa opted not to take the court advice from the Chief and agreed to pay the fine.
“I had to agree to pay the 6 cows because I dint want to defy the Chief and affect our relationship in the community, I respect the Chief hence I am willing to pay the fine,” Chidhakwa added but still maintained his innocence.
After the verdict was accepted the husband divorced his promiscuous wife before the Chief who endorsed it customarily.
It is alleged the councilor was recently restrained from committing suicide after was caught red handed copulating with a married woman he had lured with his new motor bike distributed to all Gutu Rural District Councilors a few weeks ago.
Cllr Chidhakwa and the married woman who cannot be named for now were where allegedly busy enjoying the forbidden fruit in a bushy area around Musinha and Rutonhora villages in Kurai area under Chief Munyikwa when the husband of the woman suddenly appeared.
Sources who declined to be named said it is suspected that the married women’s husband intercepted Watsapp chats between the two love birds planning to meet in the bush for a romping sex session and followed them secretly and caught them in a compromising position.
After being caught villagers gathered at the scene and he attempted to commit suicide by tying himself on a tree using a tree rope (Gavi) but they stopped him.
Chidhakwa declined the allegations saying he was never caught red handed sleeping with the married women except that he chatted with her on Watsapp jokingly as she is her “muramu” according to his relationship with her husband.
“This is not true I was never caught with that women, I was actually home with my family, what I can confirm is that we exchanged chats on Watsapp ,as she is my relative (muramu tichinemerana) as per our African tradition” said Cllr Chidhakwa.
Efforts to get comment from Chief Munyikwa were futile again as his mobile phone was continuously not reachable.
Efforts to get a comment from ZANU PF to hear if the incident violates party laws and policies were fruitless, as this has a potential to dent the image of the party.
