Feeble Earthquake Hits Zaka in Masvingo Province.

Masvingo- Some villagers in Zaka and surrounding areas near Chiredzi yesterday felt some little shocks of a weak earthquake that hit their area on Sunday 30 November.

Some of the villagers who felt some tremors did not know that it was an earthquake of less magnitude as confirmed by All Quakes.com website a global institution that records earthquakes in the world.

“A moderate magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit 80 km (50 mi) away from Chiredzi, Masvingo Province, Zimbabwe, and the depth of the quake could not be determined, but is assumed to be shallow. The quake was not felt (or at least not reported so)” All Quakes.com reported.

It is reported in the earthquake details that it occurred on “November 30, 2025 10:02:35”

According to the report the closest larger town where the quake might have been felt is Masvingo, a town with 90,000 inhabitants in Zimbabwe, in 88 km (55 mi) distance west of the epicenter.

“People likely experienced very weak shaking there. Several smaller towns and villages are located closer to the epicenter and might have experienced stronger shaking. In the capital of Zimbabwe, Harare, 285 km (177 mi) away from the epicenter, the earthquake could not be felt,” the report claimed.

A villager in Rudhanda area of Zaka, Tonderai Mawuzhwa said he felt the earth moving while he was attending to work in his garden.

“I felt some movement in just some seconds but didn’t bother to think what that was but I felt something that the ground moved, “said Mawuzhwa.

The discussion of the earth movement was also hot on social media platforms in Zaka as members were asking each other if they felt the movement.

“Guys did you hear the ground shaking yesterday for some few seconds, though it was a tremor of some sort, “said a member.

His question was met with mixed responses with some confirming while others dismissed him.

The Earthquake was however officially confirmed by the global quakes organization in its report although we could not get confirmation from authorities in Zimbabwe.

According to ALL Quakes.com, previous quakes in the same area of this earthquake and the strongest occurred 19 years ago.

“The earthquake was the strongest to hit this part of Zimbabwe in over 19 years. Earlier, the last quake of equal or greater strength near the present epicenter had been a magnitude 4.3 earthquake on Thursday, Jun 22, 2006” the report claimed.
