Masvingo- Prominent Masvingo land barons in Victoria Range Ephraim Gwanongodza and Goddard Dunira are will spend the weekend in Masvingo remand prison for allegedly defrauding 100 hectares of land belonging to Shineplus housing scheme.
Masvingo Magistrate Linnety Tariro Mudzingo ordered the duo to apply for bail after their cameo appearance at the Masvingo Magistrates court on Saturday 27 September 2025.
The duo are the brains behind Vashandi housing cooperative which houses over 10 000 households.
Residents in the settlement blame the land barons for failing to serve social amenities such as sewer and water reticulation with good road network.
Beneficiaries of the settlement are not happy with the lack of the amenities despite years of paying for the services.
