Construction of MCC Runyararo Clinic Maternity Ward Now 95% Complete

Masvingo- The construction of a maternity ward by Masvingo City Council at Runyararo clinic is now all most complete as it stands at 95% completion status.

The project that commenced recently has amused residents and is set to ease pressure on expecting mothers from other surrounding high density areas who rely on Mazorodze and Runyararo south west clinics for maternity.

In an interview with Town Clerk, Eng. Edward Mukaratirwa, he said he was happy with the progress at the clinic and many other projects in the city.

“The project is progressing well and we expect the facility to bring relief to expectant mothers in Hillside, Runyararo Southwest, Runyararo and Part of Lot A of Victoria Ranch” said Eng. Mukaratirwa.

He added that the project is being funded from internal council resources and other projects are progressing as well.

“The Council is currently constructing a Public Swimming Pool in Runyararo and also a Truck Inn in Morningside were progress is very much impressive,” he added.

Masvingo United Residents and Rate Payers Alliance (MURRA), Director, Anoziva Muguti expressed gratitude over the development.

“As residents, we’re happy to hear that the Runyararo clinic Maternity Ward is nearing completion. With the current two maternity wards shouldering a heavy burden, this new facility will undoubtedly ease the pressure and provide much-needed relief to expectant mothers. We’re eagerly awaiting its opening and hope it will bring improved healthcare services and reduced long waiting periods” said Muguti.

Masvingo city Mayor his worship, Aleck Tabe, said their focus is on inmproving infrastructural development.
“I would like to thank residents for supporting us in our infrastructure development in the health department and we will continue to do more in other areas as leaders you chose to represent you,” said. Mayor Tabe.

He added that after the completion of Runyararo clinic will be the biggest council maternity ward serving 20 women per day and hinted their next project in the health sector is to construct a maternity ward at Rujeko clinic.

While the Truck Stop Offices and Ablution Block is at 70% complete Status as foundations and walling are done with roofing stage commencing.

The purpose of the facility is to improve amenities for long-distance truck drivers and promote road safety as well as raise revenue for the council which can be used to improve service delivery provision.

Another project of the construction of a Community Swimming Pool is 60% complete and is set to promote recreation and youth engagement as a way to save them from drugs abuse and alcoholism.

Council says it appreciates the community’s support and patience during the implementation of these projects and remains committed to transparency and quality service delivery.
