Freelance journalist, Brilliant Mukaro, has pledged to offer new innovative ideas to improve service delivery provision in Bikita after he was successfully nominated to contest for the Bikita Ward 13 Councilor post under the banner of a recently formed political party,  Democratic Alliance of Zimbabwe recently.

Mukaro will battle it out with other contestants from other parties including the ruling Zanu PF party in a by lection slated for 31 January. The ward fell vacant following the death of Zanu PF Councilor, Elliot Chapinda who took his own life sometime last year.

Mukaro said all he cares about is serving the people and introducing pro poor policies if elected into office.

“I want to boost youth representation in Council. BRDC is largely made up of old people who cannot read and write or comprehend policies. We need to come up with people centered policies. We are not going into council to get allowances or residential stands but to serve the people.” said Mukaro.

Mukaro also said council has suffered from councilors who endorse policies without questioning simply because they would have been rubber stamped by their mother parties.

“We want to block policies which are not people centered like the issue of personal vehicles at the expense of service delivery. As a new political party we want transparency and accountability in the council. Councilors should implement pro people policies. We will fight corruption and not be defensive after the deed is done. Council should not pass meaningless resolutions which serve individual interests.” added Mukaro.

The youthful politician who reported for Centre News and Masvingo Mirror said people in Ward 13 can expect a paradigm shift through meaningful representation which serves the interests of communities.

“We are tired of councilors who endorse corrupt decisions and later blame others. If we make it corruption and resolutions which affect residents pockets will be a thing of the past” said a hopeful Mukaro who was also a leader at Bikita Residents and Rate Payers Association (BIRRA)

His party hopes to deliver prosperity, democracy and accountability as its mantra states.
