All is set for this year ‘s inaugural Masvingo Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund a half marathon scheduled for tomorrow 1 November 2025 which will see athletes running in 21km,10km and 5km categories.
The event will begin at 5:30 am from the Masvingo Civic Centre.
Registration has been pegged at US$10 for Kids and US$15 for adults and participants will get race packs at the venue.
The 21 km run will start at the Bus top after Sikato Primary School along Nemamwa road to Civic Centre while the 10km run will start at Mavhaire Bus top after Stopover along Nemamwa Road to Civic Centre and the 5Km run starts at Wimpy to Civic Centre.
Masvingo Mayor Aleck Tabe said all proceeds from the Marathon will go to charity, same as takings from a soccer match between Masvingo United FC and FC Wangu Mazodze which will be held at Mucheke Stadium a day after the marathon.
“City of Masvingo will be holding a Christmas mayor marathon event tomorrow the 1st of November and mayor challenge cup on Sunday at Mucheke Stadium between Masvingo United and Wangu Mazodze. The Guest of Honour will be Honourable Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira. These two sporting activities are meant to raise funds which will go for charity. It has been a tradition that before the end of every year we host such an important events to mobilise donations either cash or any kind as we support more than 20 institutions across Masvingo so that they also enjoy their Christmas as we do with our own families.” said Tabe.
Tabe also appealed to all stakeholders to support the mayor’s cheer fund initiative and participate with love and kind to make the event a success.
