The Reformed Church in Zimbabwe’s (RCZ) Education Secretary, Dr Julius Mutumburanzou, is upbeat about the 2025 A-level results delivered by schools under the church banner that maintained a massive footprint as top academic powerhouses in the country by producing prolific high passes above 90 %.

The academic institutions  spans Pamushana High School, Chibi High School, Nyashanu High School, Makumbe High School, Jichidza, Zimuto, Alheit Chin’ombe and Gutu High Schools, all of which contributed to a strong and splendid academic year outcomes.

In announcing the overall results, Dr Mutumburanzou highlighted an upward trajectory in performance compared with previous years.

“As the responsible Authority we are happy with the performance of our schools in the 2025 A-level examination,” he said.

“All the schools surpassed their targets and all our schools recorded above 90% pass rates, with notable schools in Manicaland and Masvingo provinces securing an impressive 100% pass rate.”

The strong showing, he noted, signals more than just numbers—it reflects a culture of excellence the church has infused across its educational institutions.

Dr Mutumburanzou attributed the success to the church’s Christian ethos, which, he said, anchors on a standard of perfection within its schools.

“We strongly believe in perfection which is strongly rooted in our Christian ethos, and any new staff who join our schools should embrace the same,” he added, adding that the expectation that educational attainment and moral commitment go hand in hand.

Recognizing that such achievements do not occur in a vacuum, the Education Secretary paid tribute to the teachers and support staff whose dedication made the milestone possible.

He said that the church had put in place incentives to keep staff motivated and satisfied.

“We created a deliberate plan to incentivize all our staff so that they remain motivated and happy to ensure that all our targets are met with people who are happy, “he said.

Among the standout performers, several schools were singled out for their 100% pass rates. Notable achievers include Pamushana, Chibi Nyashanu, Makumbe, and Zimuto High Schools, each posting perfect results in the A-level examinations.

Pamushana came out as the best in the province ushering 59 students who bagged 15 points and above courting the attention of the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Torerai Moyo who acknowledged and honoured the school head, Agrippa Moyo and awarded him a US$300 for leading. He was awarded together with two other school heads in Masvingo province recently at a function in Chiredzi who also received the same amount.

Dr Mutumburanzou said the RCZ’s sustained momentum demonstrates its commitment to delivering high-quality education across its network, uplifting students and communities in Manicaland and Masvingo provinces alike.
