Masvingo-Veteran administrator Simbarashe Mandishona, Masvingo United FC Secretary General, was elected as one of the four board members for the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League (PSERSL) at an indaba held in Masvingo recently.
Wisdom Simba will lead the PSERSL board after he romped to victory and grabbed the chairman post after thwarting Special Matarirano. Gray Hama grabbed the vice chairman post uncontested, while Mollen Makumbe, Rodgers Banda and Stefani Masina are the other 3 board members of the executive committee.
Mandishona who is also the Masvingo City Council, Housing Director, said he has great ambitions for the region as he embark on this new journey.

He also highlighted a plethora of changes which stakeholders can expect in the administration of the league.
“My ambitions are centered on building a sustainable, inclusive, and professionally managed football ecosystem that serves every corner of our region. Grassroots Development remains my primary focus. Football excellence begins at the community level, and I am committed to establishing structured development programs that reach even the most remote areas of the Eastern Region.” said Mandishona.
Mandishona also said the new leadership will work to identify and nurture young talent through schools, community centers, and local clubs, ensuring that no child with potential is overlooked due to geographical limitations through organizing coaching clinics, talent identification camps, and creating clear pathways for young players to progress through the ranks.
The astute administrator also said sponsorship and financial sustainability of the league is another critical area of concern.
“I recognize that many of our clubs struggle financially, which limits their ability to compete effectively and develop infrastructure. My administration will prioritize securing both regional sponsorships for the league and facilitating individual club sponsorships. We will create comprehensive sponsorship packages that offer value to potential partners while ensuring that resources reach clubs equitably. Additionally, we will explore partnerships with local businesses, corporates, and development organizations to create sustainable revenue streams.” added Mandishona.
Governance and transparency have been highlighted as the cornerstone of the new administration which he pledged that stakeholders can expect improved communication channels, regular reporting on league activities and finances, and decision-making processes that involve all relevant parties.
Mandishona said he is profoundly grateful to everyone who placed their trust in him through their support of his candidacy.
“This election was not about individual ambition but about our collective vision for football in the Eastern Region.
To my fellow board members, club administrators, coaches, players, and football enthusiasts who believed in this vision—thank you. Your confidence in me is both humbling and inspiring, and it strengthens my resolve to serve with integrity, dedication, and transparence” he said
He acknowledged the clubs and community leaders who engaged in constructive dialogue throughout the campaign period. Adding that their insights have shaped his understanding of the challenges faced and the opportunities that come.
“Football belongs to the people, and your support represents a mandate for change, progress, and inclusive development.
This is not my victory alone; it belongs to all of us who love the beautiful game and believe in its power to unite communities, develop talent, and create opportunities. I pledge to honour your support by working tirelessly, listening attentively, and delivering on the commitments I have made. Together, we will build Eastern Region Soccer League that we can all be proud of—one that develops talent, operates with transparency, and serves every corner of our region. Thank you for walking this journey with me” said an elated Mandishona
