The first of its kind pageant has been organized by a charity organization Chosen Generation International and is set to be graced by Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira.

Miss Disability Director, Vimbai Chese, said preparations are at an advanced stage.

“We have partnered with Chosen Generation a program that caters for people living with disabilities. We have gained support from the business Community and My AGE Africa. So far I can confirm that we have 15 contestants. Entry charges are pegged at $3, $5, $10, $20vip, $50 VVIP” said Chese.

Chese also urged residents of Masvingo not to sideline people with disabilities and promote inclusivity.

In a related development people living with disabilities are gaining recognition through individual awards.

Musician Tongai “Greatman” Gwaze who lives with disability has defied all odds after emerging as the Platinum winner at the Wellness Luminaries Awards 2025.

The recognition for the disability rights champion and philanthropist was conferred by the International Wellness Institute.

“It’s only God” was all Greatman could say on his Facebook page in response to this recognition.

Greatman who is currently pooling together wheelchairs with the help of well-wishers to assist people living with disabilities across the country has gained respect nationwide.

The award comes shortly after Greatman through his lobbying secured wheelchairs from Col Miniyatobo Baloyi Chiwenga who is wife to Vice President Retired General Constantino Chiwenga.

People living with disabilities have hailed Greatman as their active champion who does not shy away from expressing their needs.

“Greatman is doing great work for us. We are happy for him after he got the award. Through his support many of us have received wheelchair donations and other accessories which enhance our mobility” said an elated woman who refused to be named.

The musician also continues to shine in disability rights advocacy through street performances to fund his work and family life.

Colonel Baloyi Chiwenga promised to continue supporting Greatman’s Makumbo kuvanhu (Legs to the Disabled) initiative and work with other PWDs across the country during her recent courtesy call at Greatman’s home.
