Masvingo-The old adage which goes, “Moving the Mountains” sums it up for the local ghetto born and bred shrewd Masvingo business tycoon, Taurai “Bucho” Mudzviti who recently scooped the prestigious first runner up Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce(ZNCC) Masvingo Province 2025 businessman of the year award.
Bucho as he is affectionately known in the broader corridors of Masvingo streets and the business sector, came second after Byword and Jadecon Engineering, Prominent Proprietor, Stanley Kondongwe, who bagged the coveted ZNCC Masvingo Business man of the year award.
Bucho is a prolific case of from humble beginnings who rose to the uppermost echelons of business leadership in the province and beyond.
His business acumen and success coupled with humbleness and a strong sense of humour heavily befits the middle aged business icon bred in the Sisk area of Mucheke high density suburbs right at the intersection of Chesvingo and Second streets.
Bucho’s meteoric rise from being a mere local vendor to cross boarder vendor trading and his growth in leaps and bounds in the business circles to become the proprietor of various big enterprises including the entertainment hub of the moment, San Siro Sports Bar and Grill, the Exquisite Lacuna apartments and several other ventures including yellow machines operations may seem like a tale too hard to believe for many.
In an exclusive interview with Centre News Business Hub after bagging the award, an elated Bucho expressed profound gratitude for being honoured with the esteemed award.
“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to ZNCC for this wonderful recognition of the strides I made in the business sector, I am happy and truly humbled” said Bucho.
The astute businessman took the opportunity to thank his mother, beautiful wife and his working team for the support he got from them to achieve the venerated recognition.
In a heartfelt dedication to his mother he said “I want to thank my mother who gave me the capital to start the business when I was 18years old, the initial capital was not much but it started everything you know our mothers did not have much but she sacrificed and look where I am right now,” said Bucho.
To his gorgeous wife and life partner he expressed his heartfelt appreciation “I would want to mention my wife for being a pillar of support throughout the journey she has been there and always behind me so I want to acknowledge her for that,” he added.
The muscular business tycoon also extended appreciation to his hard working team saying their effort cannot go unmentioned as they make things happen.
Besides being a successful businessman, the strapping and judicious entrepreneur is a renowned philanthropist and soccer loving person hence the naming of his joint San Siro after the celebrated home of football for the two Italian and European soccer giants AC and Inter Milan.
European, local soccer and other sports genre lovers throng the place to watch their favourite teams and sports for free.
The joint also offers a free unlimited high speed Wi-Fi zone for Hillside and nearby suburbs community.
This has assisted even learners from various primary, secondary and tertiary institutions to study and research using free internet hence contributing to the digitalisation and embracement of Information Communication Technology (ICTs) and the use of Artificial Intelligence by the community at large.
The free Wi-Fi is also assisting learners and educators at the nearby Hillside Primary school to do their work online.
He has also assisted the elderly at Mucheke Old People ‘s Home on several occasions , helped a Sisk family to roof their house that was gutted by fire caused by an electrical fault and empowered elderly market vending women in his home suburb by sprucing them up with funds to boost their businesses.
Away from business Bucho is a social soccer gangly free scoring striker who has made a mark in the Mucheke social soccer league Sisk side Desisk FC and another club for top local businessmen Pudu FC.
In soccer circles he has assisted in the setting up of the social league through financial assistance and sponsored his boyhood club Desisk by providing transport, soccer kits, balls and incentives for his teammates.
Locals who spoke to the Centre News Business Hub said this was a well-deserved award.
“It’s a tale of from rags to riches through hard work, we all saw him starting and some even laughed at him but he remained resolute and focused. Hard work pays and Bucho is a typical case in point,” said a local guy who only identified himself as Rungeshto.
